The Chevrolet Enjoy

chevrolet-enjoy-exterior-047With the entry of the Suzuki Ertiga,Mahindra Xylo,New Toyota Innova, the MPV Segment of the Indian  Automobile market has seen a rapid increase in sales.Chevrolet Motors recently launched their new MPV,the Enjoy to have a slice of the booming MPV/MUV segment.

Recently,Chevrolet hadn’t been doing well in the Indian Market due to lack of India-oriented Vehicles. The Launch of the Sail & the Sail UV-A has brought new sale figures and revived profits. This trend seems to be continued with the Enjoy now.In True Comparison, the Enjoy competes with the Suzuki Ertiga which has been the king of entry level MUV/MPVs.The Enjoy is a little spacious & more versatile than the Ertiga.

Developed by the GM-SAIC joint venture (China) ,the Chevrolet Enjoy was first unveiled in India at the Auto Expo 2012.The boxy styling gives the Chevrolet Enjoy an edge as it is hugely spacious when compared with the Maruti Ertiga (which is based on the Maruti Ritz/Swift platform). The main advantage is more headroom, shoulder room & leg room compared to the Ertiga. The Enjoy also has bucket seats with armrests in both, the front & middle seats.

Chevrolet-Enjoy-Interior1Apart from the ample space & comfortable ride quality, the Petrol Enjoy is priced about 50,000₹ lower than Petrol Ertiga and about 71,000₹ lower than Ertiga Diesel. The Enjoy also has good engine options similar to the Ertiga, but it scores better in terms of Petrol power & lower in terms of Diesel. The 1.4 litre four-cylinder petrol engine  puts out 102 bhp of power at 6000 rpm and 131 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm with a five-speed manual transmission while the Diesel  1.3 litre four-cylinder diesel churns out 77 bhp of power at 4000 rpm and 188 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm, with a five-speed manual transmission. However, having that said, the Enjoy is slightly heavier to the Ertiga so if you are expecting a high pickup, look elsewhere. The Enjoy features a MacPherson strut with coil springs up front with a stabiliser bar while the rear sits on a 5-link coil spring setup. Handling isn’t car like as seen in the Ertiga. There is quite a bit of body roll.

The top-end Enjoy and Ertiga have two airbags and ABS, music system, power mirrors etc. However, the Enjoy does not have steering audio controls. The Ertiga offers a roof mounted AC only in the top-end and mid variant, while the Enjoy offers it across all variants. Rear wiper and defogger  too is available in the mid variant Enjoy, but only on the top-end Ertiga. The mid-variant diesel Ertiga has ABS, while the mid-variant Enjoy does not.The top end LTZ variant comes standard with ABS and front passenger airbags, a single -DIN, alloy wheels and a 12v socket for the third row passengers. The top end version gets alloy wheels as standard equipment but the 14-inch wheels look quite small for the MPV.The Enjoy Petrol gives a mileage of 13.7 kmpl and the Diesel gives a mileage of 18.2 kmpl.

Overall, the Enjoy is a very good entry level cost-effective MPV and although it may or may not over throw the Ertiga, its definitely going to give the Ertiga a run for its money.
