Ashes To Ashes

Ashes to Ashes is a British science fiction and police procedural drama television series, serving as the sequel to Life on Mars. The series began airing on BBC One in February 2008. A second series began broadcasting in April 2009. A third and final series was broadcast from 2 April to 21 May 2010 on BBC One and BBC HD.

Ashes to Ashes features DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister) from Life on Mars. He is joined by an experienced female detective and trained psychologist from the 21st century, DI Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes), who wakes up in 1981 after being shot in 2008. She concludes that she is either a second away from life, or a second away from death. Also reappearing are Chris Skelton (Marshall Lancaster) and Ray Carling (Dean Andrews). All have transferred to the Metropolitan Police in London, and Chris and Ray remain loyal to Gene. Augmenting the team is WPC Sharon ‘Shaz’ Granger (Montserrat Lombard).

DCI Gene Hunt is back, but he’s no longer the self-styled “Sheriff of Manchester.” Flanked by his faithful sidekicks, Ray Carling and Chris Skelton, and drawn by the action and intrigue of the London Met, Gene’s turned his attentions to taking on the “southern nancy” criminal scum. However, Gene did not expect to be thrown together with a sexy, intelligent DI Alex Drake. Single mother to daughter Molly, Alex has rapidly risen through the ranks of the Met and, in the modern world of 2008, skilfully uses psychological profiling to capture suspects. When Alex and her daughter are kidnapped, she makes a daring attempt at escape, resulting in a horrific incident. Alex suddenly finds herself in 1981, interacting with familiar characters, not just from her own lifetime, but also from the detailed reports logged by none other than Sam Tyler, which Alex previously spent months poring over. Alex is ripped from her current world of sexual equality and respect in 2008, and finds herself opposite an arrogant DCI, in a two-tone, “New Romantic” ’80s London with a soundtrack of Adam Ant, Roxy Music, and the Human League ringing in her ears. Alex finds that some of Gene’s team has dispersed, yet others, loyal as ever, are still in tow. Now a technological whiz kid in the squad’s surveillance team, DC Chris Skelton has clearly moved with the times, along with a tight-permed DS Ray Carling, who’s keen to experience London’s nightlife. Frustrated by each other’s stubbornness, the friction between Alex and Gene heats up. However, as the two titans collide, it becomes apparent that there is more than just a professional tension emerging.

LIfe On Mars

Life on Mars is a British science fiction/police procedural drama television series. It was first broadcast on BBC One between January 2006 and April 2007, lasting for two series in total.

An American version of the series was produced by ABC, and ran for one season from October 2008 to April 2009. Also, a Spanish version of the show was broadcast from April to June 2009.

After being involved in a car accident in 2006, DCI Sam Tyler (Simm) wakes up to find himself in 1973, the era of ‘Sweeney’ type policing, Mark III Cortinas, and flared trousers.

Life on Mars tells the fictional story of Sam Tyler (John Simm), a police officer in service with the Greater Manchester Police. After being hit by a car in 2006, Tyler awakes in 1973 and finds himself working for the predecessor of the GMP, the Manchester and Salford Police at the same station and location as in 2006. Early on in the series, it becomes apparent to Tyler that he awakes as a Detective Inspector, one rank lower than his 2006 rank of Detective Chief Inspector. As part of the CID, Tyler finds himself working under the command of Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister).

The methodology and techniques of modern policing that Sam Tyler employs during Life on Mars leads him to frequently clash with other characters. Gene Hunt and the rest of the CID are displayed to favour brutality and corruption in order to secure convictions, shown by their willingness to physically coerce confessions and fabricate evidence. Throughout both series, Tyler clashes with Hunt the most frequently, usually because Tyler values forensic evidence whereas Hunt often resorts to traditional methods and in one episode where doubt is cast over a number of people goes on the assumption of “the first to speak is guilty”.

Sam describes Hunt as an: “overweight, over-the-hill, nicotine-stained, borderline alcoholic homophobe with a superiority complex and an unhealthy obsession with male bonding”. Hunt is supported by his fiercely loyal subordinates, Chris Skelton and Ray Carling, with the latter displayed to be a similar character to Hunt. Ray and Sam are often seen to disagree with each other, as well as Sam and Gene’s love-hate relationship.[26] Chris, in contrast, becomes friendly with Sam and respects his modern methods, finding his loyalty torn between both Gene and Sam.[27]

Due to Sam’s predicament, he avoids revealing how he thinks he may have travelled back in time for fear of others thinking him to be insane. The only person in 1973 who Sam fully reveals his story to is Annie Cartwright, who it is revealed later married him during the time between Life on Mars set in 1973 and Ashes to Ashes in 1981. According to Liz White, the actress who played Cartwright, “She gets very tired of his constant talk about how this situation is not real, that they are all figments of his imagination — she can only explain it as psychological trauma from his car crash.”

Throughout the two series, the central plot centres on the ambiguity concerning Tyler’s predicament of it being unclear to both the audience and the character whether he has died, gone mad, is in a coma or has actually travelled back in time.It has been rated as the best cop show on TV since the 70′s.

Aisha

Aisha is a Hindi language romantic comedy film directed by Rajshree Ojha and starring Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol in the lead roles. The film was released on 6 August 2010.The film is a modern day adaption of the 19th Century British novel, Emma by Jane Austen set in the upper class society of Delhi, India.

Producer Rhea Kapoor and director Rajshree Ojha’s Aisha is a charmer for so many reasons. First and foremost, the film completely dazzles you with its style quotient. Truly, this must be one of the most exquisitely crafted films to sashay down Bollywood’s boulevard in the non-action genre.

Jane Austen’s nineteenth century England has been adapted very well to super swish south Dilli. The Movie Reflects the concerns and cruel intentions of all cool twenty-somethings who wear their attitude on their sleeves and look down on lesser-turned-out mortals.

The story is set in present day New Delhi where the essence is intact and virgin. Unlike all other love stories which on a large scale are melodramatic, Aisha successfully manages to convey the message without any hint of being a tearjerker.Although Aisha lacks that depth which would make it peppy, it certainly is not a chick flick. It can be enjoyed by people from both the sexes with that bucket of popcorn. Perhaps the writer and the director tried to make something lighter, which would make the movie digestible and easy to enjoy.

Lamhaa

Lamhaa is a Bollywood action thriller film written and directed by Rahul Dholakia, released on 16 July 2010. Set in Kashmir, the film is a story about an army officer, played by Sanjay Dutt, and his love interest, played by Bipasha Basu, in the midst of the various issues that Kashmir had faced over the years. It also features Anupam Kher and Kunal Kapoor in supporting roles.

International viewer reviews describe it as an  below average Bollywood crime drama served in the name of Kashmir.Although the movie to a certain extent manages to describe the hard life & sufferings faced by Indians in Kashmir due to its proximity to the LOC & the affect of Violent Extremists & Separatists,it has failed to show the true picture/the realty of kashmir & its issues. The Movie also seems to neglect the Good part of Kashmir which is very beautiful , blossming with love & Affection & attracts many Tourists to this heavenly place on earth.

But for those who have  taste for a little bit of action, secrecy & Conspiracies, the movie is worth watching.

INCEPTION

It had been a considerable amount time since Sci-Fi movies were last seen in Box offices. You guys like Sci-Fi Mind Boggling Movies & have a desire to know the Future?Well,in that case,Inception should be your choice.

The Inception unfolds is a near-future setting in which devices have been invented that allow individuals to invade the dreams of others and, if they’re clever and experienced enough, extract secrets revealed by way of the subject’s subconscious. One of the best such thieves is Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), who is being recruited for a job by corporate magnate Saito (Ken Watanabe) after failing in an espionage attempt to steal one of Saito’s secrets. At first, Cobb isn’t interested, but then Saito offers a carrot that Cobb can’t refuse: the opportunity for past crimes to be forgiven -- something that would allow him to return to the United States and see his two young children. The nature of Cobb’s infractions is not immediately revealed, but they involve his wife (Marion Cotillard). What Saito wants is not an ordinary request.nstead of asking for an extraction, he demands an inception -- the implantation of an idea deep in the subconscious that will bear future results. Most dream thieves consider this impossible, but Cobb disagrees, because he has done it. It’s risky and dangerous, but possible. The target is Robert Fischer Jr. (Cillian Murphy), who has just inherited the corporate empire built by his father (Pete Posthelthwaite). Cobb assembles his team, beginning with his frequent compatriot, Arthur (Joseph-Gordon Levitt). Together, they recruit an “architect” -- the individual who builds the dream worlds. She is Ariadne (Ellen Page), a student studying under the tutelage of Cobb’s father-in-law (Michael Caine). After Ariadne undergoes her training (which serves as a tutorial for the audience, as well), the final two members are brought on board: Eames (Tom Hardy), who can impersonate anyone in a dream, and Yusef (Dileep Rao), a chemist whose drugs can keep sleepers sedated or bring them back to wakefulness. Together with Fischer and Saito, these five travel into a dream-within-a-dream-within-a dream where, three levels deep, they attempt the inception.
Christopher Nolan has always been something of a mad-scientist filmmaker, mixing together seemingly incongruous elements from different genres to create dazzling concoctions like Memento, The Prestige, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight. He continues his genre-splicing tradition with his ambitious new opus Inception, an engrossing head-trip that might be labeled an existential sci-fi heist flick. But that would be oversimplifying things.

The special effects in Inception serve the story, rather than the other way around -- which is a rare occurrence these days, when the emphasis seems to be on providing viewers with visual amusement park rides. In Inception we are presented with cities where streets defy gravity by arching overhead and massive cliffs that collapse into the sea. There is a point to everything, most often to illustrate how dreams distort the commonplace into something that defies the natural laws.

Inception is a colossal piece of work, not only as a storytelling marvel, but also as a technical achievement. It’s so rare these days that we, the moviegoers, get to experience something wholly original. Just don’t miss it for anything.

SALT!

Salt is an Entertaining high-octane spy thriller from Phillip Noyce (Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games)

Evelyn Salt (Jolie) is a C.I.A. officer who is amazing at her job. She has done everything to protect the United States. One day, as she is leaving work to go home to her husband for their anniversary, a strange man walks into the C.I.A. offices with an extremely odd accusation about Salt. As she and her partner, Ted Winter (Schreiber), sit around to hear him talk, things start to get a little crazy. This man, who is considered a defector, claims that Evelyn is actually a Russian spy who has been planted in the United States to kill the President. Salt freaks out, thinking that this can’t be true, and makes a run for it. Ted is on her side at first, but as the counter-intelligence officer Peabody (Ejiofor) steps in, he starts to realize that Evelyn could actually be a Russian spy. Her actions of running away are not helping her but she wants to make sure that her husband is safe, even if that means risking her life. As the movie goes on, we learn more and more about who Salt really is. The question is whether or not she can prove her innocence before being captured.

Jolie has finally bridged that gap where one is able to look at her character as an action star, rather than a female or male. Every performance in the film is strong from Jolie to the amazingly talented actors, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Liev Schrieber.

It’s well-known that Jolie wasn’t the first choice to star in Salt, joining the project only after Tom Cruise dropped out, citing the story’s growing similarities to the Mission: Impossible films. But she’s more than just a capable replacement; she’s a welcome upgrade over Cruise, not least because she’s over a decade younger (and a few inches taller), than her predecessor. Should Brad Bird require a pinch-hitter for Ethan Hunt, he knows where to look.

For all the Fans of Angelina Jolie & all you action Junkies out there, this movie is a feast for your eyes!

Chuck!

NUP_111042_1145Chuck is an action-comedy television program from the United States created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak.Produced by College Hill Pictures, Wonderland Sound and Vision and Warner Bros. Television,The series is about an “average computer-whiz-next-door” who receives an encoded e-mail from an old college friend now working in the CIA; the message embeds the only remaining copy of the world’s greatest spy secrets into Chuck’s brain.

Chuck4The greatest American action comedy TV series in which, the main character”Chuck” receives an e-mail from Bryce Larkin (Matthew Bomer), his former Stanford University roommate, who is now a “rogue” CIA agent. When he opens it, the entire database of all the US government’s secret information—a neural supercomputer called The Intersect—is subliminally embedded into his brain. Both the NSA and the CIA want the intelligence returned to them and dispatch agents of their own—Major John Casey (Adam Baldwin) and Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski)—to retrieve the data.

Since the information was stolen by Bryce and the government’s copy destroyed in his attempted escape, and since Chuck experiences “flashes” of information from the database activated by certain triggers around him (such as faces, voices, in-context keywords, and various objects), he must use the knowledge he now possesses to help the government thwart assassins and international terrorists—upending his previously uneventful life. In order to preserve their safety, Chuck must keep his newfound occupation a secret from his family and friends, forcing Casey and Walker to establish an uneasy alliance and secret identities; Walker poses as Chuck’s girlfriend and takes a cover job at a local restaurant near the Buy More while Casey reluctantly goes undercover as part of the Buy More team.

As the series progresses, it is revealed that rogue spies are engaged in a secret war with the legitimate intelligence community, and that Bryce stole the Intersect to keep the real rogue spies from capturing it. The rogue spies believe they can aid their cause by capturing the human Intersect or by building their own Intersect.

The government, meanwhile, wishes to rebuild the Intersect. This would make the Intersect in Chuck’s head redundant, making him a national security risk, so Casey is secretly under orders to kill Chuck if and when he becomes redundant.

Chuck, Sarah and Casey all face professional conflicts as they grow to respect each other and a genuine romantic interest develops between Chuck and Sarah. Chuck’s desire to maintain his close relationships and eventually return to a normal life are challenged by the dangers and growing responsibilities of his new secret life, and he gradually becomes a more competent, confident and willing spy.Chuck6

Chuck is basically an interesting and hilarious blend of comedy and action. It does not imitate other series, and does not have a boring and stereotypical concept that you feel that you’ve seen dozens of times before. It’s really a breath of fresh air in the ever-growing jungle of TV series, of which few are worth spending time watching. The very most brilliant achievement of this series is the unique chemistry between the characters. No one take themselves too serious, the actors deliver great performance and consistence in every episode, and the characters’ spontaneous reactions are often enough to cause great laughter.

Furthermore the series’ perfect balance between gripping action scenes, risibility and self-irony is quite remarkable. It’s both pleasant, fun and thrilling at the same time!  Chuck will continue to be such a success for a long time and that the creators continue to develop the concept so that it does not “grow old” fast.  A hilarious series, in normally preferred as  the greatest American action comedy TV series ever!
