Mauritius

An island nation off the coast of the African continent in the southwest Indian Ocean,Mauritius is part of the Mascarene Islands.

The island was ruled first by the Dutch and then by the French after the Dutch abandoned it,it was uninhabited until the 17th century.

The main languages spoken in Mauritius are Mauritian Creole, French and English Ethnically, the majority of the population is Indian, but there are also many people of African descent on the island.Renowned for having been the only known home of the dodo(Bird),The cuisine of Mauritius is a blend of Indian, Creole, Chinese and European influences. It is common for a combination of cuisines to form part of the same meal.

Grand Bay was the first area of the island to fully experience the tourist boom. A shopping and leisure paradise, Grand Bay also happens to be the area where Mauritians head for when they want a fun-filled night out (restaurants, bars and discos). Matheran

During the Pre-Independence period,the British developed Matheran as a popular tourist resort.Matheran literally means jungle on top.

Matheran is an eco-sensitive region, declared by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. It is one of the few places in the world where vehicles are not allowed, which makes the place different from others. Matheran takes you over a hundred years back in time when there were no vehicles.

Matheran is a hill station located at a height of 800m (2,625 ft) above sea level.Its distance from Mumbai is approximately 100 kms,120 km from Pune. and 320 km from Surat.

There are around 38 designated look-out points in Matheran, including the Panorma Point that provides a 360 degree view of the surrounding area and also the Neral town. From this point, the view of sunset and sunrise is breathtaking. The Louisa Point offers crystal clear view of the Prabal Fort. The other points are the One Tree Hill Point, Hart Point, Monkey Point, Porcupine Point, Rambgh Point, and more.

The only modes of transport are on Horseback, by man-pulled rickshaw, or on foot.Matheran has a narrow gauge railway station in the town center.is also very well connected by road with Mumbai and Pune.

One of the many points to visit in Matheran are Mount Berry,Charlotte Lake & King George Point.

The TAJ MAHAL

Taj Mahal at Agra, India is one of the wonders of the world.Situated On the banks of river Yamuna in Agra.

Its Construction Began in 1631 and was completed in  1653.Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan,it spreads across 42 acres.

The Taj Mahal  actually consists of many  structures.Thousands of artisans and craftsmen were employed by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to build this Magnificent Structure in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, with whom he fell in love at the first sight.

The word “Taj Mahal” was derived from the name of Shah Jahan wife Mumtaz Mahal and means “Crown Palace”.The Taj Mahal attracts from 2 to 4 million visitors annually, with more than 200,000 from overseas. Most tourists visit in the cooler months of October, November and February.The love behind this outstanding monument is what has given a life to this monument.

The central focus of the complex is the tomb.Like most Mughal tombs, the basic elements are Persian in origin.The marble dome that surmounts the tomb is the most spectacular featureThe dome and chattris are topped by a gilded finial, which mixes traditional Persian and Hindu decorative elements.decorations of the Taj Mahal are among the finest to be found in Mughal architecture.the building has been the source of an admiration transcending culture and geography, and so personal and emotional responses have consistently eclipsed scholastic appraisals of the monument.
