Aisha

Aisha is a Hindi language romantic comedy film directed by Rajshree Ojha and starring Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol in the lead roles. The film was released on 6 August 2010.The film is a modern day adaption of the 19th Century British novel, Emma by Jane Austen set in the upper class society of Delhi, India.

Producer Rhea Kapoor and director Rajshree Ojha’s Aisha is a charmer for so many reasons. First and foremost, the film completely dazzles you with its style quotient. Truly, this must be one of the most exquisitely crafted films to sashay down Bollywood’s boulevard in the non-action genre.

Jane Austen’s nineteenth century England has been adapted very well to super swish south Dilli. The Movie Reflects the concerns and cruel intentions of all cool twenty-somethings who wear their attitude on their sleeves and look down on lesser-turned-out mortals.

The story is set in present day New Delhi where the essence is intact and virgin. Unlike all other love stories which on a large scale are melodramatic, Aisha successfully manages to convey the message without any hint of being a tearjerker.Although Aisha lacks that depth which would make it peppy, it certainly is not a chick flick. It can be enjoyed by people from both the sexes with that bucket of popcorn. Perhaps the writer and the director tried to make something lighter, which would make the movie digestible and easy to enjoy.
